Over the past 25 years, the
Pocono Choral Society has performed a wide variety of
musical works ranging from Baroque to Bluegrass, Sousa
to Sondheim. Whether premiering original choral
compositions or teaming with talented local musicians
and choirs to perform age old familiar favorites, the
Pocono Choral Society has consistently presented unique
and memorable concerts throughout the tri-state area as
well as in Europe.
Some of our recent
performances have included the world premiere in May 2004 of
Jerrold Fisher's "Love Songs", based on poems by E. E.
Cummings and a performance of "African Sanctus" by
British composer David Fanshawe in March 2003. The
Pocono Choral Society presented Jerrold Fisher's
restoration of the John Philip Sousa comic operas
Desiree and El Capitan in March 2001 to audiences in
East Stroudsburg and in Europe. And most recently, the Pocono Choral Society performed
in the June 2005 presentation of Xian Xinghai's Yellow
River Cantata in Chinese in New York City at Lincoln
Center's Avery Fisher Hall.
